EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS/ SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES

  • Strong understanding of IFRS, in particular of the revenue recognition standard IFRS 15 Revenue from Contracts with Customers.
  • Strong organization and communication skills; assertive; ability to balance multiple projects in a fast paced and rapidly changing environment.
  • Strong interest in keeping up to date technically on aspects of accounting.
  • University degree preferably accounting and/or auditing.
  • CPA or similar qualification in the area of accounting/auditing would be a plus.
  • Experience in revenue recognition and related processes in the areas of public cloud, private cloud, on premise software and services is a plus.
  • Very good English language skills; German is a plus.
  • Intermediate Excel required, Advanced Excel is a plus (VBA coding not required).

WORK EXPERIENCE

At least 3 years of working experience in the area of financial accounting of a publicly listed company reporting under IFRS or an auditing company are required. Prior experience in either the financial reporting group of a company is preferred.

Responsibilities:

PURPOSE AND OBJECTIVES

This position is located within the Corporate Financial Reporting department of SAP. This department is directly assigned to the CFO of SAP and is responsible for the completeness and correctness of SAP’s IFRS accounting and for SAP’s external financial reporting under German and U.S. law.

Global Accounting, Reporting & Tax (GAR&T) is structured in different teams:

  • Corporate Revenue Recognition
  • External Reporting and Accounting Technology (ERAT)
  • Global IFRS Excellence
  • Local Accounting and Reporting
  • Global Tax

The position is assigned to the Corporate Revenue Recognition Team.

EXPECTATIONS AND TASKS

  • Manage Non IFRS 15 policies related to Concur to ensure compliance.
  • Driving projects to improve our department’s processes related to Non IFRS 15 policies.
  • Preparing analyses of SAP product and service pricing to demonstrate compliance with SSP (Stand-alone Selling Price) in accordance with IFRS.
  • Researching, documenting, training, and providing guidance on revenue recognition and other accounting issues related to new cloud subscription, software and services business/pricing models to our stakeholders in GFA and other board areas. Working in cross functional teams to structure new business models and contemplated transactions in the light of the expected revenue accounting and external reporting requirements. Ability and experience with working in a matrix organization. Engage in proactive and positive interaction with external auditors and internal groups (e.g. Sales, Legal, Development, Pricing, and Finance).
