Position Overview
Apollo are seeking an Analyst to join the Risk team in Luxembourg to support the day-to-day oversight of the Enterprise Risk Management Framework and advise the firm on business-related risks.
This is a key hire and requires the person in the role to engage with various teams and key business stakeholders across the firm (locally and worldwide), including but not limited to the compliance, legal, finance, accounting, and valuation departments. The successful candidate will implement and oversee processes, play a key role in oversight, provide broader business support and lead projects.
Primary Responsibilities
Within a strategic department, the Risk Analyst will play a key role in Apollo’s group Risk Management program by contributing to the identification, analysis, and communication of risks affecting Apollo’s business. This role will interact on a variety of risk management issues that impact Apollo’s activities.

The main role of the Analyst will be to assist the Risk team, the Risk and Marketing Conducting Officer, and other departments of Apollo Luxembourg in effective risk management monitoring and will include the following:

  • Work closely with business partners: Compliance, Finance, Operations, Legal, Valuation, and Internal Audit teams in different countries
  • Contribute to the preparation of risk materials for Board meetings of funds managed by AIFM Luxembourg
  • Contribute to the preparation of the quarterly Risk Committee reports
  • Update the Risk and Control Self-Assessment (RCSA) to map the operational risks of the AIFM Luxembourg and other Apollo Europe legal entities
  • Act as the second line of defense to identify and mitigate operational risk within, Compliance, Legal, Valuation, Accounting departments
  • Depending on the AIFs’ risk profile, identify and monitor market, credit, concentration, and liquidity risks in a relevant manner
  • Monitor the investment risks (pre-trade analysis and investment restriction guidelines) and design charters/policies/procedures to be in line with regulatory requirements
  • Identify and assess emerging risks such as sustainability risks
  • Be an active stakeholder of risk-related projects including monitoring of third-party advisors

Qualifications & Experience

  • 3+ years of related work experience
  • Experience in funds industry, specifically in the AIFMD framework
  • Experience with operational and portfolio risks monitoring
  • Understanding of alternative investment strategies, products and various financial instruments
  • Demonstrated technical, analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Demonstrated experience with control implementations, operational risk management and audit engagements
  • Ability to collaborate with colleagues while exercising independent judgment
  • Ability to work under the pressure of tight deadlines
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize competing demands to meet deadlines
  • Thrives in a fast-paced, dynamic and collaborative environment
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • High ethical standards
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Finance, Accounting or Economics
  • CFA or CAIA professional designation is preferable but not required
