Job Summary:
The Risk Analyst will work in the development and implementation of the International Bancshares Corporation’s (IBOC) Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) program. The Risk Analysts report to the Risk Advisors and are responsible for identification, assessment, and prioritization of risks and development of methodologies and processes to measure and report issues to the business process’ Senior Management, Risk Management Committee, and Risk Committee.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Understand and support the Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) function.
  • Work with ERM and Bank Management to complete risk assessments for IBOC based on The Committee of Sponsoring Organizations of the Treadway Commission Enterprise Risk Management framework.
  • Coordinate internal risk assessments including preparation, scheduling, execution, and response.
  • Identify process /control related issues which may surface during the completion of the risk assessment.
  • Recommend solutions to business process owners with process /control related issues which may surface during the completion of the risk assessment.
  • Monitor the completion of all risk assessment recommendations given to business process owners to ensure agreed upon changes have been completed to address identified control weakness or to enhance the current process.
  • Understand and communicate bank regulations to management
  • Analyze control deficiencies that surfaced as a result of a loss event, or from the business identifying a control issue.
  • Perform risk management activities surrounding the bank’s Model Risk Management program, excludes model validation activities.
  • Proactively identify and address risk issues and weaknesses in existing policies and processes, including giving consulting on potential risk factors presented in new products, markets and procedures and advise on process and products structure to lessen the risk exposure to the bank.
  • Research and prepare summaries of new regulatory guidance, regulations, and policies issued by the Federal Reserve Bank and the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) for senior management to review and determine the impact to the bank.
  • Stays abreast of current and emerging issues in the banking industry.
  • Develop capabilities for a continuous view of the Company’s risks.

EDUCATION & KNOWLEDGE

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or commensurate experience is required within the financial services industry.
  • Prior finance services experience, preferred.
