JOB SUMMARY

We are currently looking for a Risk and Safety Communications Officer to join our Communications and Engagement Function within the Enablement group.
This is a full-time opportunity, on a permanent basis. The role will be based in 10 South Colonnade, Canary Wharf London, E14 4PU. Please be aware that this role can only be worked in the UK and not overseas.
Government departments and agencies are working towards implementing a minimum 60% attendance in office sites.
We are currently implementing a flexible, hybrid way of working, with a minimum of 8 days per month working on site to enable the collaboration and contact with partners and stakeholders needed to deliver MHRA business. Attendance on site is driven by business needs so depending on the nature of the role, this can flex up to 12 days a month, with the remainder of time worked either remotely or in the office. Some roles will need to be on site more regularly.

JOB DESCRIPTION

  • To communicate key public safety issues reactively and proactively to the public and track and evaluate successes.
  • Work within the risk communications team to help deliver key public health strategies.
  • Issue communication products to key target audiences to deliver the Agency’s key messages
  • Work as a team member within the Agency’s account management structure to effectively communicate business priorities.
  • Plan and develop engaging content that responds to business priorities and our drive to be accessible to all audiences.

PERSON SPECIFICATION

Our successful candidate will have;
Ability - Ability to plan and respond to emerging situations quickly and identify a solution.
Ability - Excellent written and oral communication skills, able to communicate complex information clearly and simply in a straightforward, honest and engaging manner.
Behaviour - Working Together - Good team player with good interpersonal skills to deliver effective communication materials, information, resources and support.
Experience - Excellent experience of working under pressure and at pace and developing and delivering communications materials and projects to a high standard.
Experience - Good knowledge and understanding of what a risk is and ways to mitigate them to ensure the public are informed.
Changing and Improving - Take managed risks by fully considering the varied impacts changes could have on the diverse range of end users understanding how to manage risks and problem solve.
Previous experience in producing appropriate written communications, to effectively communicate to the public.
A recognised communications qualification along with membership of CIPR is desirable.
