Description:

RISK & COMPLIANCE MANAGER

Reports to: VP of Human Resources

Basic purpose of position:

  • Manage the risk management process related to Workers’ Compensation, Client Contracts, Auto and General Liability insurance.

Expectation:

  • To provide exceptional service to both external and internal customers by always projecting a positive attitude.
  • Perform error free work while looking for ways to improve current and future processes.

Education Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Risk Management, Human Resources, or a related field preferred however, may be substituted with related work experience.

EDUCATION, SKILLS, LICENSES, CERTIFICATION, AND/OR SPECIAL TRAINING:

  • 5 years of experience in Risk Management, Compliance, or similar areas
  • 2 years in a managerial or supervisory role
  • In-depth understanding of local, state, and federal regulations relevant to our industry
  • Experience in risk management or auditing
  • Exposure to curating, executing and monitoring compliance projects
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills
  • Compliance certifications will be considered a plus

PHYSICAL, MENTAL & SENSORY REQUIREMENTS:

  • Be able to hear work or safety instructions verbally communicated in a normal speaking voice
  • Be able to work independently
  • Ability to communicate telephonically for periods of greater than 4 hours
  • Ability to frequently view and change data on a standard computer
  • Ability to simultaneously handle multiple tasks
  • Able to sit for long periods of time up to 6 hours.

Responsibilities:

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Ensure Certificates of Insurance (COI) are updated and in compliance with our customer contracts
  • Audit insurance policies for expiration dates, pending renewals and coverage limits
  • Ensure the distribution of insurance cards to the field sites
  • Assist in review of claim files for irregularities, accuracy and completeness
  • Notify insurance brokers of property and equipment claims as well as property transactions that are purchased, leased, sold or scrapped
  • Ensure the administration of all policies, endorsements, and related correspondence
  • Maintain contracts within the company document management system
  • Review our current compliance policies and procedures to identify areas of improvement
  • Draft new and update existing internal risk and compliance policies so that they match industry standards
  • Prepare risk management reports for senior management based on internal reviews and advise the executives on risk mitigation measures and implementation of adequate compliance programs
  • Establish relationships with important external bodies and stay up to date on the changes in industry requirements and all relevant regulations
