Description:
As a Risk Engineer EN03 you will be responsible for the maintenance and development of the MetricStream system, ensuring its design and configuration matches the requirements of the 2nd line of defence risk framework and supports the adoption of the system across the three lines of defence. Recognised as a technical SME on risk tooling, providing strong technical leadership enabling technical decisions to be made with confidence and at pace. Ensuring that the MetricStream system is well integrated with other forms of risk tooling across the Society and risk reporting is value adding.

For this job you’ll spend at least two days per week, or if part time you’ll spend 40% of your working time, based at either our Swindon or London office. ABOUT YOU
As a minimum requirement, you’ll have:
- A degree with suitable experience in a specific discipline or equivalent qualified professional with suitable knowledge.
- Demonstrable experience of operating as a system expert on the MetricStream application as a Governance, Risk and Control tool (additional knowledge of other Governance, Risk and Control technologies such as ServiceNow would be beneficial).
- The ability to demonstrate an understanding of the theory behind risk tooling and be able to apply this and understand how it fits with other risk related disciplines.
- Experience of working in a complex business environment, where there is a requirement to understand the impact of own area on others and interdependencies both on people and technological perspective.
- The rigor, ability and discipline to self-learn what is required for continual professional development and stay abreast of changes in the industry.
- Experience of the Software Delivery Lifecycle, and various delivery methodologies (Agile, Waterfall).
- Demonstrable evidence of Continuous Improvement / Continuous Delivery through Automation.
- Knowledge and experience of Service Management Principles.

Responsibilities:
- Reviewing business requirements and the technical solutions to ensure the MetricStream system is configured to mirror the requirements of Nationwide’s risk framework and meet the needs of business users. This will require elements of problem solving, solution architecture, software development, automation, code review, model-based testing and ticket resolution etc.
- Building a network including relationships with other risk system (e.g. ServiceNow) and risk reporting specialists (e.g. those using BI tools), both within Nationwide and externally.
- Working with stakeholder/peers to understand how MetricStream is best used across Nationwide. Stakeholders outside of the team will typically be a level up, an example could be the Heads of Risk / Senior Risk Managers across the Society.
- Providing support for and maintenance of the MetricStream system, including the safe delivery of change within the system (note – some weekend working may be required to support change deployment).
- Developing capability, through guidance / coaching / mentoring, of the MetricStream support team to reflect current organisation needs, future demand and emerging technical trends.
- Ensuring that Key Performance Indicators and Service Level Agreements are met for the team, and that solutions are developed to improve MetricStream functionality.
