As a Credit Risk Vice President on the Wholesale Credit Risk (WCR) Team Vice President, you will be responsible for lending activities, portfolio monitoring and managing investment-grade related credit exposures. In this role, you will be responsible for managing new and existing lending activities, analyzing and approving other credit requests, and performing on-going portfolio monitoring. You will utilize your superior analytical skills, combined with credit and industry knowledge, to make and support credit decisions for a portfolio of clients. You will be supported by a dedicated team of analysts and will play an important role in mentoring and developing junior talent to enhance the performance of the broader team.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS, CAPABILITIES AND SKILLS

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 6+ years of commercial/investment banking lending experience including extensive credit, structuring, and origination experience
  • Superior credit, lending, negotiation, loan documentation and modeling skills
  • Performs well under pressure in a demanding environment managing multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Strong attention to detail and an excellent work ethic
  • Independently productive and works well in a team environment
  • Provides leadership and mentorship to junior team members
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel, PowerPoint and Word

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS, CAPABILITIES AND SKILLS

  • MBA degree
  • Understanding of or experience in covering power and utility companies
  • Completion of a commercial/investment bank credit training program or equivalent experience and a thorough understanding of bank credit policies and procedures

Responsibilities:

  • Identify the key risk factors and develop forward-looking risk assessment associated with clients, transactions and industry sub-sectors across an assigned portfolio to ensure ratings are accurate and reflect a current forward-looking view of the client
  • Approve new and manage credit exposure for a portfolio of clients
  • Provide early identification and proactive management of deteriorating credits and other problem situations
  • Provide ownership of client credit needs and projects and independently develops a credit opinion and recommendation
  • Prepare and review credit approval materials, ensure all credit risk policies are followed, and present and recommend credits for approval
  • Apply corporate finance and accounting expertise to assess appropriate financing structures
  • Analyze and negotiate transaction structure, covenants and legal documentation to ensure terms are appropriate and consistent with credit appetite for loans and derivatives
  • Prepare and present annual portfolio review and quarterly financial snapshot of portfolio to senior management
  • Assist in training and developing analysts and associates
  • Work with bank examiners and internal credit reviewers to validate credit quality and integrity of the credit process
  • Work closely with analysts and middle office and data teams to ensure accuracy of credit system data
