ROAD SUPERINTENDENT

Emil Anderson Maintenance Co. Ltd (EAM) is the Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure’s Road and bridge maintenance contractor for Service Area 7 (Fraser Valley), Service Area 20 (Robson) and Service Area 26 (Skeena).
EAM performs all aspects of highway and bridge maintenance including, but not limited to, vegetation control, drainage, sign repairs, pavement repairs, concrete and wood bridge repair, gravel surface grading, anti-icing, snow plowing, and incident and emergency response. The EAM management team and crews work diligently for our client, the Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure, to provide safe conditions for the traveling public.

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Road Superintendent plans, schedules and supervises Highway Maintenance activities on Service Area Highways and Roads ensuring compliance with the MoTI Contract and the EAM Quality Management System.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 5+ years of experience working in the construction industry
  • 3 years of experience in a management position
  • 2 years of experience managing in a unionized environment
  • Local or willing to relocate to Terrace, BC
  • Experience working with MOTI Hwy Maintenance is considered an asset
  • Engineering or Management degree is considered an asset
  • Class 3 w/Air Brakes
    The salary range for this position will be discussed during the interview stage, taking into consideration candidate qualifications and experience.

Responsibilities:

  • Plans, schedules and supervises Highway Maintenance activities utilizing available equipment and human resources in the most efficient manner.
  • Plans, estimates, schedules and supervises extra work projects awarded by the Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure
  • Coordinates complex work assignments.
  • Coordinates annual work schedules and road inspections.
  • Supervises work crews and manages individual performance.
  • Ensures compliance with MOTI standards, the QMS and all safety regulations.
  • Ensures accuracy of work reporting including accomplishment, manpower, equipment and material usage.
  • Coordinates the applicable EAM training programs.
  • Responds to public and stakeholder communication and takes corrective action when necessary.
  • Responds to emergencies involving traffic and road closures when required.
  • Ensure processes are consistent with quality objectives and support continual improvement.
  • Assists the Operations Manager and Quality Manager in performing annual road and infrastructure
  • Ensures proper maintenance and servicing of equipment to increase life of equipment.
