Location: Coonabarabran
Department: Roads
Reports to: Manager Roads
Salary Range: $1,310 - $1,495 per 35 hour week + superannuation
Are you passionate about road infrastructure and eager to make a tangible impact on the community? We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Roads Technical Officer (RTO) to join our dynamic team. As an RTO, you will play a key role in shaping the future of Council’s roadworks program, ensuring road maintenance is efficient, sustainable, and in line with best practices. You will undertake pre-construction activities associated with Council’s roadworks program and develop and update Council’s road maintenance schedule. You will also undertake surveillance of works and provide formal reports to the Manager on the outcomes of roadworks, so you will need to have extensive knowledge of road construction, maintenance, and asset management.
You will need to have great communication and relationship building skills as you will work closely with key stakeholders. This will include liaising with Contractors to ensure project outcomes are delivered across a diverse range of road projects, with Transport for NSW regarding roadworks under the Road Maintenance Council Contract (RMCC) and with other government departments as required.
We are looking for someone who is solutions-oriented, with a strong commitment to safety and compliance. Along with your technical expertise, your analytical, organisation and project management skills will be key to your success in this role.
This position is located in the beautiful town of Coonabarabran, known as the Astronomy Capital of Australia, which is midway between Melbourne and Brisbane and is known for its beautiful landscape and stunning night skies. The town has medical services, excellent schools, a variety of sporting and social clubs and a thriving tourism Industry. With the nearby Warrumbungle National Park, which is also Australia’s first Dark Sky Park, there is plenty to do and explore whether you’re looking for adventure or relaxation.
