Description:

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Robotics Coordinator has twenty-four hour responsibility/accountability for the units operations including: quality of care, patient flow, service, and efficiency. The Robotics Coordinator is responsible for budgetary adherence and clinical operations of the robotics service in collaboration with the Chief of Robotics and the Director of Surgical Services.

REQUIRED KNO’öLEDGE & SKILLS:

Position Requirements:
Knowledge of surgical terminology, equipment, instrumentation, materials, and policies/procedures (sterile protocol/OR attire), and the fundamental methods relating to surgery Demonstrates basic knowledge of data collection, research protocol
Knowledge of surgical procedures o Urology o Gynecology o General Surgery
Demonstrated leadership ability and collaborative skills
Minimum skills/abilities:
Comprehensive knowledge of the da Vinci System and processes necessary for robotic surgery
Strong communication skills
Leadership and problem-solving ability
Knowledge of Peri-operative processes

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/LICENSURE/TECHNICAL/OTHER:

Education: High School Diploma or GED required and CST with current certification
Experience: Operating Room experience (3 yrs +)
Robotic Surgery Experience (2 yrs +) MIS experience preferred
Certification/Licensure: Certified Surgical Technologist in the State of Massachusetts. BLS Required
Location: North · 0201.50350 SAH Operating Room
Schedule: Full Time, Day Shift, 7:00am-3:30p

Responsibilities:

Administrative

  • Manages the patient flow of the robotic surgery schedule
  • Orders and maintains inventory of EndoWrist instruments and accessories
  • Orders and maintains ancillary supplies related to robotic surgery
  • Assists with the updating and/or creation of OR/Hospital protocols related to robotic surgery under the direction of the Director.

Technical

- Manage routine preventative maintenance on daVinciTM Surgical System e Set up of auxiliary equipment for da Vinci procedures (ESU/Bipolar, Gyrus, Endo-Stabilizer, etc.)
- In-service OR Nursing and CST staff on pre-, intra-, and post-operative management of the da Vinci Surgical System
- Conduct da Vinci System Training via the Interactive Training Tool Clinical
- Clinical troubleshooting of the daVinciTM Surgical System during robotic procedures
Set up daVinciTM Surgical System for surgical procedures
Assist as scrub nurse or first assistant at the patient side for surgical procedures (if applicable)
Supervise the preparation and positioning of patients for robotic procedures
Maintain records of surgical procedure pathways and guidelines
Document procedure results and assists with procedure data collection and management
Target and support new surgeons interested in robotic surgery
Develops and maintains a Clinical Pathway for the Robotic Service
Other
In-service Central Supply/ Processing regarding cleaning and sterilization of Endowrist Instruments and accessories
Point person for any da Vinci related questions (System or Clinical)
Liaison between Saint Annes Hospital, Intuitive Surgical and health care professionals
Demonstrate daVinciTM Surgical System to surgeons or visiting groups
Actively participates in all collaborative group activities and appropriate committees; member of the

Robotic Steering Committee
Assists with the development of and implementation of policies and procedures that guide and support patient care within the Robotic Service.
Participates with Perioperative Nurse Educator, provides orientation, in-service education and continuing education for staff.
Identifies current needs for use of equipment and assists the Director to project capital budget items. Performs other duties as assigned
