WHAT WE NEED

We are looking for a Robotics Infrastructure Engineer to join our Perception group within the Software Engineering Team. Your job is to support the deployment of the advanced perception systems on our fleet of mobile robots. We are looking for people who thrive in a creative, collaborative and agile development environment. The Robotics Infrastructure Engineer will work proactively and in response to ad-hoc support calls to ensure the perception software system is running properly on the robots in the production warehouse automation environments of our customers.

WHAT WE DO

The Perception team is primarily responsible for developing and improving perception algorithms that enable our robots to be robust and efficient in a warehouse environment utilizing their onboard sensors. We are part of a talented team of roboticists working on the heart of Symbotic’s automation solution - Symbot , the mobile robot. We are responsible for delivering solutions for the storage and retrieval use cases performed in a fully autonomous structure operating 100s of Symbots at customer sites.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct support for product release activities.
  • Provide escalation support for short-term problem resolution activities.
  • Use Teleoperation tools to directly interact with mobile robots in a remote location to resolve issues in production facilities.
  • Interact with the Site Operations team at customer facilities to keep them informed of active Teleoperation and Software update activities.
  • Create documentation of system-level functionality from a support perspective.
  • Install highly configurable hardware interfacing software.
  • Collaborate with the Product and Solution Architect, development and technology and Infrastructure, Operations, Engineering, Quality Assurance, and Systems Support to ensure Symbotic system has appropriate support to run 24x7.
  • Understand the Symbotic Perception Infrastructure, including an understanding of all elements involved in the software deployment and installation of updates.
  • Perform manual robot sensor calibration.
  • Help with running bots in mock warehouse for testing software.
  • This position will be onsite at our Wilmington, MA headquarters and Hybrid.
  • This position requires flexible hours. Shifts may include (for example) 8AM - 4PM; 4 PM - 12AM; 12AM - 8 AM.
  • Weekends and some Holidays on rotation.
  • Participation in an “on-call” schedule to occasionally provide after-hours support.
  • Up to 20% travel may be required .
