Description:
Hull University Teaching Hospitals are seeking a Band 6 Senior Occupational Therapist to join their diverse team of Allied Health Professionals who work across a range of clinical specialties within acute care.
You will gain experience of working in a large busy acute teaching hospitals which has defined links with Hull University and is itself a Major Trauma Centre.
The post holders will work alongside colleagues to support the assessment or need across a range of clinical conditions which present within acute care with varying degrees of complexity.
As an occupational therapist you will have direct input into the assessment and treatment of patients, delivering evidence based interventions to facilitate recovery, promote well being and optimise independent functioning as far as reasonably possible in all areas of life.
We are seeking applicants who can adapt quickly to changing work environments and work well within a team. You will be expected to be an active member of the multi-disciplinary team and build networks to enable appropriate partnerships with other agencies involved in patient care to both identify and address immediate and ongoing needs.
The position on offer is currently within the existing band 6 rotation which operates across two hospital sites.
The successful candidate will have the opportunity to gain direct clinical experience in the following areas:
- Acute Medicine including Frailty Intervention
- Emergency Department and Admission Avoidance
- Stroke Assessment & Rehabilitation
- Neurosurgery
- Neuro & Complex Rehabilitation
- Trauma Orthopedics
- Oncology / Brain & CNS
All rotations are for a period of 9 months - 1 year (variable dependent on service needs)
The posts would suit a band 5 occupational therapists who has completed their core rotations and feels ready for the challenge of a senior rotational post. Band 5-6 development will be considered for the right candidate
The post holder will be self motivated and aspirational, be able to assess in an effective and timely manner within a rapid paced environment. Confidence in enabling patients in positive risk taking, personalised care, assessment of capacity, manual handling, functional assessment and knowledge of the SAFER principles of care and Discharge to Assess will be enhanced and nurtured within these roles
Support will be provided to enhance operational management skills and the post holders will be supported to contribute to service planning, development and teaching. As a senior occupational therapist, the post holders will need to be a role model for their team and pride themselves on delivering high quality care, motivating their team to do the same
