Emterra is currently searching for 1 Route Supervisor in our Mississauga office. The Route Supervisors will be responsible for ensuring the health & safety, productivity, and efficiency of our drivers within the collection routes. These positions report to the Operations Manager.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- 2-4 years route supervisory experience;
- Valid DZ licence an asset (G Class Required);
- Experience operating waste collection equipment is an asset;
- Familiar with route balancing and sequencing techniques;
- Ability to supervise others and ensure excellent performance by setting clear goals and expectations, tracking progress against set goals, and ensuring feedback to address performance challenges as they arise;
- The skill and ability to cultivate positive working relationships with employees to ensure a team environment.

Responsibilities:
- Manage all residential, garbage and recycle routes and drivers on daily basis;
- Plan and monitors employee schedules and route scheduling including regular communication throughout the day until all routes are completed;
- Ensure that operations are running safely by performing driver observations and monthly safety meetings;
- Oversee day-to-day operations of multiple routes;
- Perform operational audits of collections routes and observation routes;
- Ensure that drivers required to operate company vehicles or equipment are completing daily safety and maintenance checks so that issues are addressed in a timely manner to eliminate or reduce down time;
- Perform training of new hires;
- Conduct accident investigations including scene management, first accident report and final analysis with root cause and preventative measures;
- Maintain Environmental Health and Safety programs including training, meetings and required reporting of relevant EH&S issues;
- Maintain adherence to company safety policies and MTO regulations;
- Required to work Fridays every five weeks, or as required based on vacation coverage.
