Description:
An opportunity has arisen for an energetic, confident person who has excellent interpersonal skills and enjoys problem solving to join our dynamic infection prevention team (IPT). Required to work autonomously, you will be able to demonstrate initiative and prioritisation in planning your own workload in a way that supports Homerton Healthcare.
As detailed below the main duties of the role include but are not exhaustive of:
Fit test program lead and fit tester
IPC audit person in community and hospital site
Surgical Site Surveillance
Datix handler for IPC
The team is dynamic, friendly and supportive. We have a positive attitude in training and developing people and those new to IPC, in which the post-holder would be required to actively participate. As well as role modelling to motivate others, ensuring all Trust policies and procedures are complied with.
The successful applicant will have to demonstrate the unique NHS experience suited to achieve the demand and expectation laid out above and importantly be a team player.
The post-holder will work as part of the infection prevention and control team, responsible for the smooth running of audit relating to the IPC service, ensuring appropriate distribution and escalation of outcomes.
They will provide accurate and high-quality audit using various data collection tools (e.g., paper, digital platforms) across the organisation (community and hospital site) for a vast and varied subject matter (e.g. hand hygiene, environmental, surgical site infection).
The post holder will be and support the surveillance person in the mandatory UKHSA surgical site infection surveillance scheme.
Contributing to the administrative functions of the team, they will support IPC services in delivering clinical governance across the Trust by being a key liaison point between IPC and relevant stakeholders, to monitor and co-ordinate incidents informed by Datix.
A face fit program testing FFP3 suitability has been successfully established within Homerton Healthcare NHS Trust. With the constant threat of high consequence infectious disease (HCID), more than ever this programme needs to be firmly embedded in the Trust to ensure all staff are protected against these and respiratory viruses in the healthcare environment.
