Job Description
The Safety Compliance Officer reviews the contractor safety plans to ensure completeness and compliance with the necessary requirements.
- Facilitates the construction risk assessment exercise.
- Evaluates if mitigation identified during risk assessment are included in the safety plan.
- Performs field compliance inspections of construction activities as required to ensure compliance with EHS requirements.
- Reviews construction Pre-Work Plans/Job Hazard Analyses (JHA) submitted by contractors to ensure completeness and alignment with site EHS programs.
- Reviews Safety Plans and provides guidance on Pre-Work Plans/JHA’s development, including hazards identification and proposed control measures.
- Performs as construction Risk Assessment Facilitator for completion of this analysis in projects.
- Provides Safety Induction Training for contractor employees.
- Reviews and acknowledgement of pre-work safety planning documents (e.g., JHA’s, Rigging Plans, Excavation Plans, etc.) for all contractor related activities.
- Performs field inspections to identify violations to safety plan requirements or established EHS practices, at risk behaviors or conditions, construction waste situations.
- Escalates reporting of any incidents or potential incidents learned by direct observation or as notified by another person.
- Supports incident investigations to determine causes and corrective action alternatives.
- Other tasks as assigned by the Contractor EHS Program Manager.
Qualifications
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Master’s degree in Sciences/Engineering orBachelor’s degree in Sciences/Engineering, 2 years of directly related experience, and at least 5 years’ experience in construction activities field
- OSHA 30 hr. Construction Safety Certificate is required
- Knowledge of OSHA Construction Industry Regulations (30-hr OSHA Training or equivalent)
