Job Description

The Safety Compliance Officer reviews the contractor safety plans to ensure completeness and compliance with the necessary requirements.

  • Facilitates the construction risk assessment exercise.
  • Evaluates if mitigation identified during risk assessment are included in the safety plan.
  • Performs field compliance inspections of construction activities as required to ensure compliance with EHS requirements.
  • Reviews construction Pre-Work Plans/Job Hazard Analyses (JHA) submitted by contractors to ensure completeness and alignment with site EHS programs.
  • Reviews Safety Plans and provides guidance on Pre-Work Plans/JHA’s development, including hazards identification and proposed control measures.
  • Performs as construction Risk Assessment Facilitator for completion of this analysis in projects.
  • Provides Safety Induction Training for contractor employees.
  • Reviews and acknowledgement of pre-work safety planning documents (e.g., JHA’s, Rigging Plans, Excavation Plans, etc.) for all contractor related activities.
  • Performs field inspections to identify violations to safety plan requirements or established EHS practices, at risk behaviors or conditions, construction waste situations.
  • Escalates reporting of any incidents or potential incidents learned by direct observation or as notified by another person.
  • Supports incident investigations to determine causes and corrective action alternatives.
  • Other tasks as assigned by the Contractor EHS Program Manager.

Qualifications

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Master’s degree in Sciences/Engineering orBachelor’s degree in Sciences/Engineering, 2 years of directly related experience, and at least 5 years’ experience in construction activities field
  • OSHA 30 hr. Construction Safety Certificate is required
  • Knowledge of OSHA Construction Industry Regulations (30-hr OSHA Training or equivalent)
