JOB DESCRIPTION

The Safety Coordinator provides administrative and site visit support to the Manager, Safety & Compliance, with a focus on enhancing safety awareness and ensuring compliance with safety protocols onboard Canadian flagged vessels in the Great Lakes region.

EDUCATION

  • Diploma or Degree in Safety or related field

EXPERIENCE

  • Experience with industrial safety programs preferred but not required
  • Knowledge of general safety, training and environmental concepts, standards and practices
  • Knowledge of Marine Industry considered an asset.

SPECIFIC SKILLS

  • Follow company policies and work requirements
  • Time-management of daily/weekly tasks
  • Regular travel up to 25% (58 days/year)
  • Familirization with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Powerpoint, Outlook)

Responsibilities:

OFFICE BASED RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Produce reports and graphs on safety related statistics as directed by the Manager, Safety & Compliance
  • Manage safety equipment and PPE stock, prepare order requestions as necessary
  • Assist in the development of safety programs and execution of those programs.
