Reports to the Safety Manager.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide safety support to all levels of the organization and foster a positive safety culture with all employees and contractors
  • Network with other mine sites to continuously improve safety equipment, tools, and systems at Rocanville
  • Participate in OH&S committee, SIF in the Routine, STAR, and any other initiatives to support and improve safety
  • Provide direct supervision and leadership to the underground safety department which includes a team hourly and staff positions
  • Manage overall contractor safety program for Rocanville
  • Responsible to ensure site safety systems and procedures are implemented for the underground operations and maintenance at Scissors creek site, including the 3 Shafts
  • Ensure systems are in place to maintain safety related equipment in compliance with site policies and provincial regulations
  • Investigate or assist investigation for all work-related recordable injuries or PSIFs (events with Potential for Serious Injury or Fatality)
  • Prioritize safety resources to support the highest risk activities with employees and contractors
