Responsibilities:

ABOUT THE ROLE

At Babcock we’re working to create a safe and secure world, together, and we’re looking for talented Safety Engineers to join us at HMNB Devonport, one of the largest naval bases in Western Europe. We’re a key strategic partner to our customers; the MOD, ensuring that the UK Royal Navy goes to sea safely by supporting them here and around the world.
For more than three hundred years Engineers have been shaping the dockyard to ensure it supports the fleet and protects the nation. We need you to help continue this tradition by transforming, sustaining and improving Devonport to meet the demands of the Royal Navy for the next hundred years.
We are looking for individuals to support projects across the Dockyard, from existing Nuclear and Radiological facilities to the design of brand new facilities for the maintenance and upkeep of the submarine fleet.
As a Safety Engineer your activities could include but won’t be limited to: the provision of Nuclear and Radiological knowledge and support to the business; the provision of technical advice on Nuclear Safety Assessment processes and policy; ensuring compliance with statutory legislation and the terms of the Site Licence; the delivery of Nuclear Safety Cases and Licencing Plans; and the development and implementation of Nuclear Safety processes and standards.
Help us to create the naval base and dockyard of the future and in return you will receive a competitive salary, good benefits package and the unbeatable quality of life that comes with living in one of the most beautiful corners of the UK.

WHAT DO I NEED TO BE ABLE TO DO THE ROLE?

You’ll be educated to Degree level in an Engineering or Scientific discipline and/or have relevant knowledge and experience; a background in nuclear/radiological safety is highly beneficial for the roles we are looking to fill, but not a necessity. You’ll be registered as a Chartered Engineer (or be working towards chartered status). You’ll also possess good interpersonal skills and be competent in verbal and written communication, with the ability to operate and interface effectively with Senior Managers and internal stakeholders.
