We are currently seeking an experienced, reliable, and motivated Safety Specialist to add to our team!
JOB QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS:
- Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP) or a related field preferred.
- 5-7 years proven experience in a safety role within a m manufacturing environment preferred.
- Strong knowledge of Ontario’s occupational health and safety regulations, Electrical Safety Authority (ESA), Canadian Welding Bureau (CWB) and Workplace Safety & Insurance Board (WSIB) as well as industry best practices.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to train and engage staff effectively.
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills, with the ability to develop and implement safety solutions.
- Analytical skills to conduct risk assessments, identify hazards, and develop corrective actions.
- Ability to work collaboratively across departments and foster a culture of safety.
- Experience in investigating workplace incidents and contributing to the development of safety policies.

Responsibilities:
- Monitor work processes and procedures to identify unsafe practices or breaches of safety regulations.
- Conduct regular equipment inspections to ensure proper installation and operational functionality.
- Facilitate the repair and replacement of unsafe or damaged equipment to maintain a safe working environment.
- Develop, implement, and organize comprehensive safety training programs for employees at all levels.
- Oversee the creation and enforcement of safety policies, procedures, and operational standards.
- Conduct safety audits and risk assessments to identify potential hazards and ensure compliance with safety regulations.
- Collaborate with the quality control department to assess whether finished products meet safety standards for customers.
- Investigate accidents and incidents, documenting findings, and recommending corrective actions.
- Facilitate safety meetings and workshops to raise awareness and engage staff in safety practices.
- Assist in the development or modification of safety equipment and measures to improve workplace safety.
- Oversee the placement of safety signage and hazard warnings throughout the facility.
- Conduct investigations into incidents or unsafe conditions on the worksite and recommend preventative measures.
- Prepare and present regular reports on safety operations, incidents, and compliance to management.
- Stay up to date with safety regulations and industry best practices by attending seminars and workshops.
