Saints Foundation is the charity of Southampton Football Club. We support people in need throughout Southampton, providing life-changing opportunities to help our city and it’s communities thrive.
What will you be doing?
As a Secondary School Engagement Officer, you will be working in our dynamic Education team and will be responsible for the delivery of Saints Foundation’s Community Champions project. You will be working within Southampton’s Secondary Schools, using the power of the Saints badge to support those who feel the impact of inequalities most.
You will work with pupils using a range of specially designed resources to deliver 1-1 mentoring, group interventions and extra-curricular activities with the aim of improving attitudes towards education, raising aspirations and supporting their engagement in school life. Working with those who are at risk of becoming disengaged and by being based within the school, you will become a positive role model for pupils whilst also creating positive relationships with our partner schools and their staff.
This is a very rewarding role with the opportunity to make a positive impact to the local Southampton community. You’ll be based at the local school Monday to Thursday and at our office in St Mary’s Stadium on Fridays. Saints Foundation branded uniform supplied by Puma will be provided for this role.

Essential Skills:

  • Ability to engage with Secondary School aged pupils.
  • Be able to create and maintain strong relationships in schools with staff and pupils.
  • Be a competent deliverer who is able to adapt a variety of sessions based on needs.
  • Hold an understanding of the challenges Secondary School young people currently face.

Desirable Qualifications & Experience:

  • Hold or be working towards the Youth Work Level 2 or Effective Mentoring, or an equivalent education-based qualification.
  • Experience of working with young people with SEMH & SEN needs.
