Description:

Ryerson has an opportunity for a Sales Engineer position for our newly developed Ryerson Advanced Processing Business Development Office in Grand Rapids, MI. As a Sales Engineer, you will be responsible for daily interaction with customers’ needs via phone and email. This role will collaborate with multiple internal and external sources to service and execute our customer’s needs. Also, this role will understand and communicate current processing vendor trends and customer feedback. All while focusing on providing a premier service for the highest valued accounts within the Ryerson account portfolio.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Interpret and qualify customer provided documents such as prints, CAD files, and specifications
  • Full understanding of tolerances, materials, specifications, and processing options that will guide a robust metal supply chain creation
  • Manage part specific supply chains by utilizing internal and external processing assets to meet customer quality and delivery requirements
  • Estimate material, labor, and delivery options on a part level basis and develop contract pricing templates based off awarded work
  • Basic understanding of part quality needs and requirements associated with first articles, PPAP experience a plus
  • Provide data to buyers, planners, and purchasing agents to determine material forecasts
  • Coordinate with RAP Project Management to communicate implementation status with all project shareholders
  • Supports and encourages quality, service, and safety objectives, strategies, and goals that reflect the Company’s values, vision, and capabilities for BDO office

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

• Bachelor’s Degree Preferred or equivalent work experience

  • 1-3 years sales experience in the metal industry
  • Print reading required. CAD or drafting experience a plus
  • Experience with SAP highly preferred
  • MS Office software skills required including Outlook, Word and Excel
  • Basic financial acumen in developing cost build ups and resale price recommendations
  • Working knowledge of geometry, strong math skills, and a technical aptitude
  • Effective communication skills and ability to collaborate with all elements of a manufacturing supply chain
  • Bilingual encouraged to apply

Experience Required: 1 - 3 Years
Education Required: Bachelors Degree Preferre
