We are recruiting for a Sales Expert to join our Review & Financial Advice Team. If you are a specialist in building meaningful relationships with customers, helping them identify their needs and relish working in a stretching commercial environment, then this role may be for you!
The Relationship Expert – Financial Advice role is a telephony-based sales role that boasts significant additional earnings through a performance-based incentive scheme; You will have the opportunity to earn bonuses of up to 55% of your salary per annum; paid quarterly. Appropriate selling behaviours and activities are very important whilst keeping the customers best interest at the centre of what you do.
It is an exciting time to join Skipton Building Society in a role where you will engage our customers in conversations around our Financial Advice Proposition. You will help identify their Investment, Inheritance Tax and Retirement Planning needs and following comprehensive journeys designed to support the customer experience, get them in front of a Financial Adviser.

You will be joining the Review & Financial Advice Team (RFAT) which is made up of around 40 highly skilled colleagues who provide expert support to The Society’s customers. The Review & Financial Advice Team has two distinct arms: Service and Sales. Our Service team look after The Society’s existing Financial Advice customers with everything from ad-hoc queries to providing them with detailed contractual reviews of their portfolios. RFATs Sales team does what it says on the tin: it is a commercially focussed function with stretching commercial targets. The priority for our sales team is to generate new business Financial Advice opportunities.
The Review & Financial Advice Leadership team includes a Senior Manager, 2x Team Managers, a Performance Support Specialist who looks after all our training and development needs, and a Proposition & Quality Specialist who supports the team to grow commercially. The Review & FA Team is a Financial Advice Distribution function however, our stakeholder network reaches right across the Homes & Money businesses within SBS.

What Will You Be Doing?

  • Through having effective conversations, the successful candidate will contact customers to develop and grow relationships via outbound and inbound telephony interactions.
  • You will champion The Society’s Financial Advice proposition and will support customers with their financial planning needs such as investments, inheritance tax and retirement planning.
  • You will work towards stretching commercial targets in a fast-paced environment.
  • You will inform, motivate, and influence key stakeholders across all Contact Centre teams, ranging from Digital Based webchat colleagues to inbound telephony colleagues to Mortgage Advisers; engaging them with the Financial Advice Proposition and supporting them to become Financial Advice lead-generators.
  • You will also be responsible for adhering to high standards of quality and performance, ensuring compliance to The Society’s conduct and regulatory frameworks.
  • Taking ownership of your own development, you will proactively seek out sources of knowledge and feedback so that you can discuss our range of services with confidence and connect with specialist colleagues to support each other.

What Do We Need from You?

  • A passion for customer service and sales through service
  • The ability to build meaningful relationships with customers using excellent communication skills.

  • Experience of working within commercially focussed teams/sales teams and driving high performance

  • Target fixation: priority-focused and success-driven in turn enabling you to achieve stretching commercial expectations.
  • Sales intuition: the ability to dispense tactical sales skills.
