Description:

Aloft Jacksonville Airport is seeking an experienced, talented and results driven individual to fill the critical role of Sales Manager.
The Sales Manager is responsible for the effective management of all accounts of the hotel and effectively maintaining those accounts while soliciting new accounts to grow hotel revenues. They will be expected to possess superior service skills in dealing with clients, guests, and co-workers. They will also be responsible for soliciting and managing the sales portion of catering/banquet events.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Two (2) year or four (4) year college degree with an emphasis in Hotel or Hospitality management preferred. High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Must have previous experience working in the hospitality industry.
  • 3+ years of experience in sales management or in a leadership role in the sales department, preferably in hospitality.
  • Opera experience preferred.
  • Select, Focused, or Extended Hotel Stay experience preferred.
  • Strong organization and presentation skills.
  • Must be able to work independently and simultaneously manage multiple tasks.
  • Must be outgoing and a proven self-starter.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license with a clean driving record and proper insurance coverage for business related travel.
  • Must be fluent in English.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Frequently required to stand, walk, sit, use hands to handle or feel objects, tools or controls, reach with hands and arms, climb stairs, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, talk, or hear.
  • Occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.

Responsibilities:

  • Participate in regularly scheduled sales meetings which focus on the number of prospecting and existing calls to be made and the potential business results of these calls.
  • Solicit assigned accounts to achieve or exceed budgeted rooms revenue and to improve performance of the brand in the marketplace.
  • Spend majority of time prospecting/cold calling for new accounts, thoroughly saturating existing accounts.
  • Develop extensive knowledge of the marketplace.
  • Meet or exceed all established sales goals.
  • Monitor production of all top accounts and evaluate trends within the marketplace.
  • Make sales appointments and cold calls to consistently prospect accounts for all direct sales segments (long-term business, short-term business, and leisure).
  • Successfully perform the sales process (establishing rapport, qualifying, meeting needs, handling objections, and closing).
  • Close an identified amount of new business from prospecting calls.
  • Maintain a good working relationship with existing client base and explore ways to increase revenue from this base.
  • Assist in implementing special promotions relating to direct sales segments (parties, sales blitzes, etc.).
  • Abide by prime time selling activities to optimize revenue generating activities.
  • React to negative trends in the marketplace by implementing blitzes or special promotions.
  • Participate in revenue management meetings.
  • Understand and utilize sales tracking program.
  • Follow up on all requests in a timely manner.
  • Carry through all assigned tasks within approved timeline.
  • Adhere to company sales policies, hotel rules, and hotel terminology.
  • Perform any other duties as requested by the General Manager and/or Director of Sales.
