Description:

SUMMARY

Reporting to the General Manager, the Sales Manager is responsible for managing and developing a team of Account Managers, including day-to-day activities of the team and ensuring that the activities and capabilities will result in the attainment of sales targets for the team. The Sales Manager will also focus on strategic sales planning, along with being involved with some specific National key account follow-ups in Alberta, based on National group regional office locations and where there are needs to support regional initiatives.

EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum five years’ experience managing, leading, and coaching an outside business-to-business sales team in either the hard goods, wholesale, or CPG industries.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

  • Strong ability to assess local market conditions and respond effectively.
  • Proven skills in managing and coaching teams to achieve high performance.
  • Demonstrated effectiveness in professional sales techniques with B2B customers and key accounts.
  • Skilled in establishing internal and external relationships to identify and implement growth strategies.
  • High level of self-discipline with strong time management and organizational skills.
  • Practical experience in call management disciplines.
  • Deep understanding of the sales cycle and the ability to execute strategies effectively.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, particularly for presentations to customer and business owners.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and CRM and ERP systems.

EDUCATION

  • High school diploma is a minimum requirement.
  • Formal sales training is required.
  • Post- secondary education in business is preferred.

Responsibilities:

  • Coach and manage Account Managers to achieve monthly and annual sales targets, and to work with effective sales processes
  • Maintain high personal visibility with key accounts and by building a strong direct strategic relationship with identified key accounts
  • Develop and implement short and long-term strategic plans for the region and ensure attainment of company sales goals, profitability in the product lines, and increased market share
  • Build and develop relationships with key supervisors and managers within the region
  • Build and promote strong, long-lasting relationships with customers and suppliers
  • Promote effective use of the CRM by account managers
  • Ensure good call planning habits are established and utilization of professional selling skills
  • Implement educational and technical training programs as required to increase the skills and professionalism of the outside sales staff
  • Develop a strong collaborative working relationship with the Inside Sales group, individually or through Supervisors, to ensure established sales programs are being supported and promoted by the Inside Sales team
  • In cooperation with corporate credit, assess risks related to existing and target customers
  • Develop and maintain a positive and productive relationship with identified key vendors, and ensure that they are providing market support as required.
