QUALIFICATIONS:

Required:

  • High School Diploma
  • A least 1 year of surgical scheduling experience required
  • Demonstrate professionalism and strong customer service skills required

SCHEDULING REQUIREMENTS:

  • Shift- 8:30am- 4:30pm
  • Monday-Friday
  • Full Time

Responsibilities:

  • Understands the process for pre-certification/pre-authorization from insurance companies for imaging and procedures
  • Understands basic principle of insurance coverage
  • Obtain insurance information, demographic information and authorizations as needed
  • Coordinates surgeries for Department of Surgery Communicates with Physician/s per their schedules Review patient history and medications to ensure accuracy in EMR and verify medical and or specialist clearance needed prior to surgery
  • Call patients to advise of timeframe for surgery
  • Communicates with patients to coordinate surgery day, arrange for pre-op testing, arrange pre/post-op visits as per individual physician protocol
  • Contacts referring physicians, provides surgery information and any pre-op orders needed for H&P and/or medical clearance
  • Interact with clinical staff as needed ensures all pre-op orders are created and faxed to appropriate facility/s and or sent to patient, including labs, EKG, chest x-ray, urine testing, and/or communicates with patient prior to surgery to go over consents, surgical estimates, insurance authorizations; responsible for collecting monies due prior to surgery
  • Completes all SSI disability forms and Letters of Medical Necessity for insurance information, as well as explain benefits to patients preparing for surgery
  • Responds professionally and pleasantly to telephone messages
  • Obtains adequate/accurate information and delegate information appropriately
  • Maintains communication with physicians, mid-level providers, patients hospitals, insurance companies
  • All other duties assigned
