WHERE YOU FIT IN?
As the Scheduling Team Lead for the South Africa, you will take on the challenge of managing an operational team of eight direct reports. Responsible for covering scheduling activities to deliver approximately 2.5 billion liters per annum via 120-140 secondary vehicles.
Through your leadership and management skills, you will be expected to motivate and inspire the Scheduling team to create a daily delivery plan that does not compromise HSSE and fulfils the promise to our customers for the lowest unit delivery cost; and to support the execution of that plan on a day-to-day basis through re-planning and pro-active stakeholder engagement and management.
WHAT WE NEED FROM YOU?
- Business or Logistics/ Distribution field degree would be an advantage.
- Proven leadership experience, which could be gained in a variety of disciplines or environments including either inside or outside Shell.
- 7 yrs of relevant experience
- Strong coaching and motivational skills with a genuine interest in developing people
- Excellent stakeholder management skills
- Strong Analytical, Problem Solving & Decision-Making skills.
- Skills and/or knowledge in professional Continuous Improvement techniques will be an advantage (e.g., CI practioner)
- Supply Chain experience essential
- Excellent Communication & Business Presentation skills
- Demonstrated evidence of Enterprise first values and behaviours will be considered during the selection process.
Responsibilities:
- To lead the local Scheduling team to achieve operational excellence in the day-to-day execution of Order Generation and Fulfilment, Routing & Scheduling, Dispatching, and Administration, while maintaining the appropriate balance between HSSE, customer service levels and cost.
- Ensure that daily road transport operations (ordering, scheduling, delivering and administrating) meet all Group standards at lowest possible cost to service level.
- Manage day-to-day interface with road transport, mobility, aviation, terminal operations and supply and give input to Secondary Transport management in the S&OP process, the meeting of Service Level Agreements and other KPI’s.
- Liaise with the Road Transport Team and the Facilities Managers to ensure the optimal provision and availability of assets (trucks, terminal availability, etc.) to optimize value creation.
- Coordinate with various parts of the business (Marketing, Supply and Distribution) the management of demand rationing and any Supply issues.
- Support initiatives of the data integration management and global IT initiatives for the secondary transport process e.g. implementation of relevant scheduling tools and ensure the right use of software applications.
- Liaise with Customer Operations team and act as distribution interface to continually improve best in class customer experience and satisfaction.
- Support the development of performance improvement and best practice initiatives and support to manage their implementation.
- Grow the capability of the Scheduling team, further developing a “coaching and development” culture, where performance is managed, recognized, and rewarded.
- Ensure proper staffing through attraction, coaching and development of people, covering aspects like D & I, Competences, Performance Management and Recognition & Reward, supported by OtD manager.
- Manage a team with a shift working pattern (24 hours a day/7days/week/365 days a year)
- Managing the multiple interfaces and potential conflicting priorities with business partners (COB), customers and within Distribution Operations to maximize value for the South African business.
- Delivering the required Customer Service and Unit Cost performance across widely dispersed locations, in a country with 11 official languages.
- Dealing with significant complexity in a highly dynamic environment with a fragile supply chain, necessitating rapid and effective problem solving that requires constant risk assessment and mitigation.
- Build strong partnerships within Distribution operations, Customer operations and the Classes of Business (Mobility, Aviation, etc)
- Operations and haulier partners to ensure alignment of overall Order Fulfillment strategy.
- Demonstrating resilience under pressure and the ability to take safe, decisive action.
