Description:

DESCRIPTION

Provides enrollment, admissions, and advising services to prospective and currently enrolled high school students on the campus of a local high school. Helps high school students define their career aspirations and identify community college programs and/or training to meet those aspirations and achieve their educational goals. Empowers students to make informed decisions regarding career and educational plans in preparation for success in post-secondary education, training, and employment opportunities.
Receives direct supervision from the Associate Dean of High School Programming.
Exercises no supervision.

EDUCATION:

A Baccalaureate degree (or higher) from an accredited college or university is required. Degrees in education, student development, or a related field are preferred. A Master’s degree is preferred.

EXPERIENCE:

At least two years of responsible student interaction in high school or college admissions, registration, or academic advising is preferred. Experience with enterprise resource planning (ERP) and/or customer relationship management (CRM) software is preferred. Candidates should display effective oral and written communication skills.

KNOWLEDGE OF:

  • Community college mission, policies, and procedures.
  • Community college student services including admissions, advising, and recruiting.
  • Curriculum and continuing education program of study requirements/standards.
  • Basic data analysis, statistics, and reporting skills.
  • Basic principles of marketing.
  • Database fundamentals and certain computer application (spreadsheet, word processing) fundamentals.
  • Intervention strategies and techniques related to student support programs and student retention efforts.
  • Fundamental student development theory.
  • Pertinent federal, state, and local laws, codes, and regulations.
  • Strategies and techniques for establishing accountability.

Responsibilities:

  • Assists high school students with Career and College Promise (CCP) and career advising, completing CCP paperwork and registrations, clarifying qualifications and prerequisites for CCP pathways, tracking their individual progress toward pathway and/or degree/diploma completion, connecting to work-based learning (WBL) and apprenticeship opportunities, and transitioning from the high school to the postsecondary institution.
  • Assists high school counselors with developing student career plans, identifying and advising students regarding articulated credit and CCP pathways, promoting career and technical education (CTE) degree options and careers, liaising to business and industry opportunities through the College’s K-64 initiative, and improving current processes.
  • Prepares and maintains a variety of reports, records, and logs beneficial to tracking the enrollment goals of the College; assists with the development of marketing and informational materials.
  • Represents the College at a variety of recruitment events on the high school’s and the College’s campuses.
  • Enters accurate student information into a variety of the college databases and programs; establishes and maintains registration documentation.
  • Attends and participates in professional group meetings and conferences; stays abreast of new trends and innovations in the fields of college admissions and academic advising.
  • Provides excellent customer service to students and employees of the high school and the College.
  • Maintains accurate records of hours worked and in travel status.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
