Permanent, Full time, 37 hours per week.
Rotherham’s Access to Education Service is seeking a Service Support Assistant to work within the School Admissions Team.
We are looking for a highly motivated individual who can work both as part of a team and individually, someone who can work under pressure and to tight deadlines to meet service requirements and statutory timeframes.
You will have responsibility for monitoring the school admissions general enquiry email account and will be responding to general enquiries from parents/carers, schools and others by email and telephone, referring complex enquiries to an Admissions Officer.
You will be responsible for recording applications received for children who require a transfer to a new school onto a central pupil database which will involve data checking, creating new records and liaising with parents/carers and schools. You will also produce decision letters from the child’s record in response to parental requests as instructed by the Admissions Officers.
You will possess excellent organisational skills and meticulous attention to detail, ensuring compliance with national legislation and local policy. You will communicate effectively with members of the public, schools, parents, and other stakeholders and will have good written and verbal communication skills. Confidence in the use of ICT systems to support processes is essential.
You may be required to undertake other duties as directed by the Service Lead to ensure that statutory requirements of the service are fulfilled.
The role is based at Riverside House and operates in line with the Council’s working location policy.

Until 31st March 2026 employees paid at Band D and above are subject to a temporary pay reduction of 1.15% spread out by means of a monthly deduction from each pay period over the full financial year.
