Description:
The Governors of Rosebank Junior School based in the
Southern Suburbs of the Western Cape wish to appoint a
dynamic, highly motivated and suitably qualified PART-
TIME School Finance Officer to support the smooth and
efficient running of the school. This is a school governing
body (SGB) post for a FIXED TERM CONTRACT. As the Finance
Officer of Rosebank Junior School, the incumbent
is required to administer, deliver and manage the finances
of the school.
The successful candidate should have:
Experience of working in a finance function and have knowledge of
accountancy procedures and/or a book-keeping qualification
A professional attitude and commitment to furthering their own
development
Strong interpersonal skills and positive behaviour management.
Duties of the Finance Officer:
Pastel accounting (payroll)
QuickBooks (data capture, monthly and annual reconciliations,
general ledger maintenance, journal processing, etc.)
Assist to compile SCHOOLS ANNUAL BUDGET
Bookkeeping to balance sheet
Debt management function (arrear school fee collection)
Cash management, full creditors and debtor function
Preparation of audit files, year-end files, financial statements and
other administrative duties.
Managing the payroll process, tax compliance, tax administration
and SARS
Co-Ordinate the exemption application process in conjunction with
SGB Chair and Treasurer
All submission and deadlines to be met
Submission of monthly/quarterly 043 forms to WCED
Preparation and reporting to RJS finance management team, SGB
and Western Cape
Education Department reporting. Available for auditing.
Ad hoc duties as may be required
The ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a
team.
Responsibilities will include
Finance, HR, Administration Premises management and Health & Safety
Education requirement
At least 1-year tertiary level accounting qualification
At least 2 years’ experience at the advertised level, with the same/ similar
key performance areas
Experience and Skills
Book keeping and school bursar experience needed
Computer literacy (MS Office, Emails, Excel, Power Point,
QuickBooks and Pastel)
