Description:
The Lax Kw’alaams Band is seeking a full-time experienced School Counsellor who will be an integral part of our school-based team. This position will provide direct social-emotional, academic and career-vocational counselling and consultation to students (elementary, secondary and adult), their families and supporting staff.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND KNOWLEDGE:
- A Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Education Psychology or Counselling Psychology.
- BC Teacher Certification and member of the Teacher Regulation Branch preferred
- Teaching experience at the elementary or high school level is an asset.
- Demonstrated skills and knowledge in counselling children and part of the School Based Team.
- Demonstrated Knowledge and Experience in Trauma Informed Practice.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Proven record of professionalism, punctuality, flexibility, dependability, and reliability. Strong communication skills.
- Highly motivated and able to work independently; must be able to schedule and prioritize work.
- Ability to multi-task and establish priorities.
- Able to deal with people sensitivity, tactfully, diplomatically, and professionally at all times.
- Proven ability to establish open, trusting and respectful relationships with youth.
- Personal attributes include caring, compassion, empathy and sensitivity.
- Experience working with First Nation children, adults and families.
- Innovative, creative, team player and resourceful.
- Clear Criminal Record Check working with vulnerable populations.
