The Department of Justice - Office of School Safety (OSS) is currently recruiting for 2 Program and Policy Analysts/School Safety Consultants in project positions that are currently funded through October 1, 2025. Project positions are a great opportunity to gain experience within state service and working with criminal justice partners. OSS is responsible for the quality assurance and oversight of the mandatory requirements of Wis. Stat. § 118.07. Wis. Stat. § 118.07 requires public and private schools to submit on an annual basis for each school building: blueprints, safety plans, school violence drills, school safety training and safety assessments.
This position will be 100% remote in Wisconsin. The incumbent will be headquartered at their home location, which will be identified at the time of hire. High speed internet access will be required.

Position Summary
This position supports the Wisconsin Department of Justice and the Office of School Safety’s commitment to serving our school partners statewide. OSS is responsible for the quality assurance and oversight of the mandatory requirements of Wis. Stat. § 118.07. Wis. Stat. § 118.07 requires public and private schools to submit on an annual basis for each school building: blueprints, safety plans, school violence drills, school safety training and safety assessments. This position assists in achieving this goal by providing service and support to our school partners in Wisconsin and oversight of the requirements of Wis. Stat. § 118.07.
This individual will perform professional level evaluations and reviews of the mandatory requirements related to Wis. Stat. § 118.07 and provide consultation to schools with best practice resources for the mandatory requirements. This individual will provide consultation and guidance to assist schools with completing the requirements and submission to OSS. The individual will also develop presentations and training materials specializing in Wis. Stat. § 118.07 and will coordinate and/or provide trainings to school staff and the general public.
Salary Information
This classification is in pay schedule 07, pay range 04. Pay for this position will be between $26.00 and $33.00/hour. Pay for current or former state employees will follow the provisions found in the State of Wisconsin Compensation Plan.
Job Details
The Department of Justice does not sponsor work visas at the time of hire or anytime during employment. All persons hired will be required to verify identity and eligibility to work in the United States and complete the required Employment Eligibility Form I-9.

Based on current funding, this project position is expected to end October 1, 2025. As a project employee, you will continue to receive all rights and privileges afforded to original probationary employees by state law, with the exception of tenure, transfer, reinstatement and layoff benefits.
Qualifications

Minimally qualified candidates must have training, education, or work experience in the following areas: Knowledge and skill using computers and information technology, including word processing, spreadsheets, database systems, e-mail, and the internet. Ability to troubleshoot and resolve technical problems on a variety of platforms. Preparing and updating written materials, such as training materials, manuals and/or presentations.
In addition to the minimum qualifications, a well-qualified applicant will also have training, education, and/or experience in: Knowledge in school safety for K-12 schools in Wisconsin and/or general knowledge of law enforcement operating procedures. Skills in effective oral and written communications and effective interpersonal relationships, including the explanation, justification, or discussion of a variety of issues requiring a logical presentation of appropriate facts, information, and thorough analysis.
