About the role
There is a current vacancy with Ceredigion County Council, for a Schools Safeguarding Officer who will have responsibility to work with all schools in Ceredigion and be a key member of the Children’s Safeguarding Service in Social Care Services.
This is an exciting opportunity to work across Schools/Education services and Children’s Social Services to ensure an effective, dynamic and seamless service in relation to the safeguarding of children and young people who are of school age.
Your role will be to provide advice and guidance to schools across the county on any safeguarding issues affecting children/young people, ensuring the signposting to early intervention and prevention services if appropriate or referrals to statutory children’s services if early prevention services is not appropriate.
You will also have a key role in providing safeguarding training to school staff and other key professionals and also work with schools to ensure that thy have robust policies and procedures in place in relation to responding to safeguarding issues.
You will represent Education at both operational and strategic service meetings within both Education and Social Services and will have some involvement in the work of the Mid and West Wales Regional Safeguarding Board.
The ideal candidate will be a dynamic, enthusiastic, creative individual, with excellent interpersonal and communication skills and has a sound knowledge of Safeguarding legislation under the Social Services and Well-Being Act 2014 (Part 7; Safeguarding) and the Wales National Safeguarding Procedures 2019, as well as being able to keep up to date with current safeguarding issues that may face children/young people.
