SKILLS REQUIRED:

  • Third-level qualification in business, medical, or science discipline
  • Analytical skills
  • Basic Excel skills at minimum
  • Ability to work in a high-pressure environment while ensuring all the tasks are done in a timely manner
  • Regular expansion of knowledge re: Irish healthcare system - ability to adjust to constantly changing insurer requirements keeping in mind client & hospital specific rules already in place
  • Ability to work in a team environment, understanding the value of internal communication and common effort required to complete all daily tasks
  • Ability to work independently on tasks as assigned by Supervisor/Manager
    Not required but desirable - basic understanding of the private medical healthcare system in the Irish market OR willingness to learn same in a short time frame.

Responsibilities:

ROLE OVERVIEW:

We currently have an opening for a Medical Billing specialist to join our team. The role consists of reviewing claims on behalf of our consultants and liaising directly with insurers and hospitals on their behalf to secure payments. While an understanding or knowledge of medical terminology would be beneficial for this role, it is not essential. Other duties for this role involve dealing with hospital personnel, insurance companies over the phone and via email and liaising with our clients to establish a strong working relationship. The ideal candidate must have excellent attention to detail, be a quick learner, and be PC literate.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Efficient processing of various documents provided by different entities to generate invoices/claims in line with the company’s SLA
  • Following up on unpaid invoices/claims with hospitals/insurers/patients accordingly to the status of the claim, identifying key trends to help resolve issues as they arise
  • Ensuring the quality of claims meets all standards given by insurance companies, clients, and hospitals in order to achieve maximum reimbursement and a high level of client satisfaction
  • Answering internal & external phone calls from other Medserv employees, clients, hospital staff, and insurer staff - maintaining a high level of professionalism, and providing precise and accurate information
  • Responding to daily queries via email from both internal and external personnel within the required time frame, taking on additional email tasks required depending on the daily volume of team emails
  • Establishing and maintaining good client and hospital relationships at all levels
  • Attending and participating in training as required as well as providing training & mentorship to less experienced team members
  • Handling insurer/hospital returns and corrections
  • Ad hoc duties as required or assigned by manager/supervisor
