We are looking for a dynamic individual with expertise in science and operations to join our management team at the Centre for Northern Forest Ecosystem Research in Thunder Bay.
This position offers a unique opportunity to lead and mentor a dedicated team while contributing to significant capital projects within the Ministry of Natural Resources. You’ll be at the forefront of natural resource management, ensuring the successful implementation of innovative projects that support our environmental and operational goals.

LEADERSHIP AND MANAGEMENT SKILLS

  • Demonstrated ability to guide a diverse team and develop effective science operational plans, policies, and procedure.
  • Committed to enhancing team performance through inclusive, values-driven leadership in recruitment, talent management, and performance management.
  • Proficient in ensuring adherence to collective agreements and government policies.
  • Skilled in providing valuable advice to senior management with an understanding of political dynamics.

PROJECT MANAGEMENT SKILLS

  • Experienced in managing and directing projects, including planning, budgeting, and coordinating contracts.
  • Adept at analyzing and authorizing project plans for high-profile and time-sensitive initiatives.
  • Capable of providing scientific support for policy development/changes.
  • Effective in identifying and addressing potential issues, managing responses, and handling concerns.

RELATIONSHIP MANAGEMENT AND COMMUNICATION SKILLS

  • Proficient in building relationships and engaging effectively with stakeholders.
  • Capable of exceptional written and verbal communication, including preparing briefings, technical reports, and presentations.

TECHNICAL KNOWLEDGE

  • Knowledgeable in areas like aquatic ecology, forestry, and wildlife management, including their assessment and impact on communities.
  • Experienced in developing bio-monitoring programs and assessing ecosystem health through scientific research.
  • Experienced in managing health and safety in unique environments, effectively representing management interests.
