TLC AND SUMMER CAMP INSTRUCTOR
Destination Exploration (DE) is seeking full-time Youth STEM Camp Instructors ($18.00/hour) for its STEM Summer Camps to begin April 23rd until August 20th, 2025.

DE is the University of Lethbridge’s Youth STEM organization located in the Science Commons on campus with a mission to bring science and technology to life in a fun and educational manner. We are seeking creative and motivated people to engage grades K to 10 students in a variety of in-person classroom workshops and on-campus day camps. This role will include working in a team to develop creative and hands-on STEM activities and implementing these with camp participants. As a member of Destination Exploration, you will join a national network of STEM outreach programs under Actua, Canada’s largest STEM outreach organization. This is a great opportunity for those working towards a degree in education. This position qualifies as a co-op work term if desired.
An individual in this position will gain experience in public speaking, classroom management, educational lesson planning, and valuable teamwork and communication soft skills. DE programs work with a variety of technology used in K-12 education that you will learn how to have fun with and effectively use such as Spheros, Ozobots, Makey Makey, TinkerCAD and 3D printing.
The main duties and qualifications of this position include the following:
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Experience working with school aged children
- Have a background in a science, engineering or computer science related discipline
- Hold a full license (Class 5) & access to a vehicle is an asset.
- Knowledge of the Alberta Learning Curriculum is an asset
- Experience developing educational material (lesson plans, activity development) preferred
- Possess a current First Aid Certification and a clean criminal record check
- Can effectively communicate with teachers and faculty and to act as an Ambassador of the U of L within our community
- Be creative, resourceful and a team player

Responsibilities:
- Deliver our Traveling Lab Coats (TLC) workshops, delivered to K-8 students in Lethbridge and its surrounding area.
- Develop, prep and deliver week-long summer STEM camps to children aged 6 to 15.
- Work collaboratively with other instructors to develop activities and to create a safe, educational, and fun environment for the campers.
- Effectively supervise all participants at all times while encouraging interactive learning and a team atmosphere.
