Description:
KATKIN’S OPPORTUNITY
Cats are undeniably champions of the Internet. They’re cute, hilarious, and can be jerks, so honestly what’s not to love? But, while they’ve been getting the recognition they deserve online, they’ve been left by the wayside in the pet food industry, with legacy FMCG companies opting to offer little innovation targeted specifically to the unique requirements of cats. Enter KatKin.
WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR:
- Passionate veterinary graduate with a commitment to cat health
- Experience in research or clinical trial development
- Strong written and oral scientific communication skills
- Familiarity with clinical treatments of feline diseases and risk factors affecting cat health
- Familiarity with content creation including digital media (webinars, recorded video content) which promote accessible science-forward messaging
- Willingness to represent Katkin and our mission in public, veterinary, and research settings
- Compatible nutritional and research philosophies with strong drive to question and test the status quo
- Confident in communicating: can translate complex scientific ideas to a cat parent in a variety of formats (written, spoken, video, etc)
- Willingness to engage with a dedicated cat parent audience online
- Credibility with vets and the public based on educational and clinical experience
- Ability to travel to London for on-site work as needed (the position is hybrid remote and open to applicants across the UK and US)

Responsibilities:
KatKin has launched an ambitious effort to revolutionise cat health by applying a rigorous scientific approach to product and knowledge innovation. The Scientific Affairs Veterinarian will provide veterinary insights across a range of corporate and research functions.
R&D. The successful candidate will work under the direction of, and closely with, the Director of R&D and consulting experts including a board-certified veterinary nutritionist. Strong interfacing will be required across the R&D team which includes nutritionists, data scientists, digital product experts, and experienced clinical trial leaders. The goal of the position is to ensure that trials, products, and digital content is designed and disseminated with the highest level of veterinary insight. If the successful candidate has a background in product or diet formulation, further opportunities exist for participation in those functions.
Marketing. The Scientific Affairs veterinarian will work in cooperation with marketing to develop high-quality educational, social media, and public (both lay and vet) digital content to further enforce Katkin’s credibility by providing outreach using our science-forward approach. In addition, you will have opportunities to work closely with the Customer Experience team on veterinary escalations and queries and help to educate that team and KatKin customers. The role is ideal for a veterinarian with interests in industry innovation and clinical trials, and a background in research or related endeavours is critical to success in the role.
