Description:
In this 0.7-1.0 FTE 24 month fixed-term role, based at Epworth Freemasons (East Melbourne)/Epworth Richmond, you will support the development of the immunotherapy and cellular therapy research portfolio, reporting to the Deputy Director and Medical Lead, Cell Therapies.
Activities will include scoping Point-of-Care (PoC) CAR T-cell clinical trial opportunities and developing scientific research protocols to achieve the Centre’s second objective: Provide access to CAR T-cell research, clinical trials and future delivery of these novel treatments as standard of care for blood cancer patients.
You will be part of the Cell Therapies and Research team and report to Deputy Director and Medical Lead, Cell Therapies.
Responsibilities:
You will demonstrate initiative, motivation and exercise good judgment and can achieve results. A solid, conceptual and proven problem-solving ability is needed, and a positive, proactive and collaborative approach is very welcomed. We require someone who is highly self-motivated and able to work autonomously in a fast paced, dynamic environment. As a lead scientist, you will be expected to be scientifically forward-thinking and creative in forming hypotheses. Lastly, to be successful in this role, we require a high level of personal and professional integrity and a display of an ethics-based approach in all aspects of your work.
You will have:
- PhD and/or Medical degree
- Greater than or equal to five years of hands-on research or clinical laboratory experience
- Experience in research and/or clinical laboratory establishment and management.
- Experience in tissue culture
- Experience with the Office of the Gene Technology Regulator
- Experience with applications to institutional biosafety committees
- Experience with applications to human research ethics committees
- First or corresponding author in reputable scientific publications in the fields of immunology and/or cell therapy
- Previous independent grant success
