Job Description
We are currently recruiting for an experienced and passionate Scientific Officer to support the Simulation and Practical Experience team at Griffith University in ensuring the delivery of high-quality simulation and practical learning activities across Nursing and Midwifery, Exercise Science, Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy and Nutrition and Dietetics.
The Scientific Officer will report to the Technical Manager (SPE) and under the guidance of the Team Leaders and Senior Technical Officers for Simulation & Practical Experience, you will be responsible for providing expert technical service and advice to support the functions and users of Nursing and Midwifery, Exercise Science, Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy and Nutrition and Dietetics laboratories and workspaces. The position will be responsible for procurement, preparation and set up of material and equipment and will contribute to the maintenance and operation of instrumentation.
The appointee will be based on the Gold Coast Campus with the expectation of working on Logan and Nathan Campus as required. They will be available Monday to Friday between the hours of 7am and 6pm.
This position requires the knowledge and ability to act quickly and be open to a high degree of variation in daily tasks and responsibilities. We’re looking for a proactive individual with the ability to work both independently and part of a team. They will be adaptable to change and willing to conduct self-directed learning and development practices that will contribute to a successful student experience and the team’s continued success.
Responsibilities:
- Completed a relevant Health based degree, or completion of an associate diploma with and at least two years subsequent relevant work experience or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training.
- Demonstrated experience in providing technical and simulation support within a tertiary education institution or hospital, particularly in health-related disciplines such as Nursing, Midwifery, Exercise Science, Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy, and Nutrition and Dietetics, would be highly regarded.
- Developed critical thinking skills, highly organised with strong attention to detail.
- Strong Health and Safety compliance acumen within specialised teaching/simulation environments.
- Ability to handle direction and work autonomously, readily adaptable to changing work requirements and manage multiple tasks concurrently.
- Possesses strong oral and written communication skills, along with excellent interpersonal abilities, to ensure clear and effective interactions with academic staff and team members. Demonstrates the capability to work efficiently within cross-functional teams.
