Overview:
Exagen is a patient-focused and discovery-driven life sciences company dedicated to transforming the care continuum for patients suffering from debilitating and chronic autoimmune diseases. Our goal is to enable rheumatologists to improve care for patients through the differential diagnosis, prognosis, and monitoring of complex autoimmune and autoimmune-related diseases, including lupus and rheumatoid arthritis. By leveraging our proprietary Cell-Bound Complement Activation Products, or CB-CAPs, technology, we help get to the real cause of a patient’s symptoms and guide their journey to improved health.
We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Scientist to join our Research and Development team. The Scientist will work on multiple projects and provide guidance and support to lab personnel in conducting experiments, maintaining laboratory equipment, and ensuring the smooth operation of the laboratory. They will be responsible for writing Study Projects, SOPs, Protocols, research literature and participating and presenting at lab group meetings.

Responsibilities:

  • Write SOPs, Protocols and clients’ Research Studies/Final Reports.
  • Execute experiments following established protocols, to produce reliable and precise data to support clinical research/trials.
  • Carry out complex analytical tasks, such as test results interpretation and data analysis.
  • Manage and assist on routine laboratory tasks, such as daily instrument start-up, setting up experiments, preparing materials, labeling samples, and organizing equipment.
  • Assist in the operation and maintenance of laboratory equipment, sample log & inventory in the fridges and freezers, and troubleshooting issues as needed.
  • Adhere to safety protocols and CLIA/GLP regulations, including proper handling and disposal of hazardous materials.
  • Collaborate with team members to ensure efficient workflow and timely completion of tasks.
  • Support other administrative duties related to laboratory operations, as assigned by supervisory staff.

Salary range: $85,000 - $115,000
Qualifications:

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • PhD or master’s degree in biology, Chemistry, Biochemistry, or a related field, or equivalent wet laboratory experience.
  • 2-4 years wet-lab experience in Diagnostics, Biopharma or academic lab.
  • Experience performing ELISA, ELISpot, engineering CAR-cells, PCR, and or Flow Cytometry assays.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to multitask and prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and engage with clients.
  • Commitment to maintaining high standards of safety, cleanliness, and professionalism in the laboratory.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and other relevant software applications

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Proficiency in MS Excel data processing and Laboratory Information systems
  • Proficiency in use of ELISA and Flow cytometry software
  • Proficiency in use of laboratory automation equipment
