Description:

JOB SUMMARY – WHAT TO EXPECT:

As a Scientist within our R&D Chemistry team, you will

  • carry out research, design, development, synthesis, fabrication, and testing of novel materials and/or processes for contact lens products, and generate and develop new innovations, including improvements to existing contact lens materials and processes.
  • The role will involve taking responsibility for designing, planning and the completion of experiments to ensure that the data generated is appropriately analyzed and reported.
  • You will also be expected to support the Chemistry team with activities such as equipment qualifications and dealing with hazardous waste (as per regulatory requirements and current policies and procedures) in their assigned work area.
  • This position involves both hands-on work and participation in multiple projects activities liaising closely with other members of the wider R&D group.You will work in a cross-functional team environment involving functions within R&D, Manufacturing, Marketing, and when required interfaces effectively with outside organizations and individuals.

ABOUT YOU:

We are looking for someone who is highly organised, self directed with excellent communications skills who has the aptitude to proactively find solutions with the following experience:

  • Bachelor/Masters of Science degree preferably with minimum 1-3 years’ experience in Chemistry/related field or if you have a Ph.D. in a Chemistry related field of study, preferably with some industry experience.
  • Knowledge of materials, ideally polymeric materials preferred but not essential.
  • Ability to read and understand highly technical material.
  • Technical Report writing experience.
  • Data analysis and presenting.Knowledge of basic statistical techniques.
