SCIENTIST II – BIOVUE

As QuidelOrtho continues to grow, we are seeking to appoint a Scientist II to join our a BioVue/Immunohaematology team based at our manufacturing site in Pencoed, South Wales.

Responsibilities:

YOUR NEW ROLES:

As a Scientist II, you will be reporting to the Technical Team Leader, you will be accountable for the technical leadership and oversight of investigations or projects which are owned within the technical group. This will include the undertaking of relevant hands-on practical work activities as part of the general support function of the Product Support department, using multiple analytical techniques & instrumentation. Performing the interpretation & analysis of scientific data and ensuring that the laboratory is compliant with all relevant quality, compliance and safety systems.
The successful candidate will have experience in performing and analysing blood grouping tests, antiglobulin tests and antibody titrations.

WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING:

  • Performs laboratory experimental work to include complex Immunohaematology tests and analysis to ensure the product complies with established specifications.
  • Interpret results and make recommendations for immediate and appropriate action liaising closely with relevant departments (Quality engineering, Production and Quality assurance).
  • Operate and maintain testing equipment such as QuidelOrtho Vision, AutoVue Innova, centrifuges, pipettes, QuidelOrtho workstation.
  • Maintain operational environment and records while ensuring the area meets HSE requirements. Maintain a safe working environment through the proactive identification of hazards and risks and compliance with UK Health and Safety Legislation
  • Maintain control charts for trend analysis. Understand the principles of Statistical process control (SPC) and the uses of such systems.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of using problem solving tools.
  • Demonstrates commitment to achieving agreed goals and a sense of urgency to get a job completed when appropriate.
  • Participates in the implementation of improvements as directed.
  • Develops technical skills and knowledge to fully participate in product and process improvement / raw material projects, product development projects or troubleshooting investigations as directed.
  • Provide timely updates on work activities to all relevant parties. Anticipates needed information and disseminates it appropriately.
