For our European production site in Frankfurt am Main, we are looking for a
Scientist (m/f/d)

QUALIFICATIONS

  • PhD in Chemistry, Physics or Material Science or Chemical Engineering or equivalent qualification, with focus on elemental analysis
  • Excellent scientific and technical expertise in development and implementation of spectroscopic and analytical methods, especially SEM/EDX, XRF, FT-IR, ICP-MS and ICP-OES
  • Advanced application knowledge in thermo-analytical methods, such as DSC and TGA
  • Expertise in complex analytical problems and their implementation into relevant test concepts
  • Problem-oriented working and analytical thinking, with a high amount of own initiative and commitment
  • Ability to manage complex interfaces and a diverse spectrum of internal customers
  • Good resource management and project management skills
  • Good knowledge of polymers structure and structural characterization techniques
  • Good knowledge of polymer-structure/property correlations
  • Knowledge of Safety, Health, Quality and Environment Regulations
  • A pronounced sense for the needs of internal and external customers

Responsibilities:

Manage, operate, maintain and develop the assigned R&D laboratory for “Structural, Thermal and Elemental Characterization” in order to plan and realize R&D activities, especially in field of Circular Economy and Sustainability, contributing to the progress of R&D programs and Business Support.

  • Manage and operate an analytical laboratory for the characterization of polyethylene and sustainable polyolefin solutions
  • Develop and implement analytical, spectroscopic and microscopic techniques with focus on circular economy and sustainability in cooperation with our global analytical expert network
  • Improve efficiency of existing methods and develop novel techniques for characterization of new products
  • As disciplinary lab head you will train lab personnel in technical-, quality- and safety-relevant topics
  • Understand polymer structure and polymer properties and carry out polymer characterization and analytics by solving problem for various customers within R&D, manufacturing and business
  • Maintain quality management of existing methods as part of the ISO 17025 accreditation
  • Support development of new polymer products in close inter-disciplinary collaboration with catalyst, process and product development
  • Collaborate on cross-functional research topics among R&D sites in Italy and USA
  • Support generation of new patents
