Key competencies You will be assessed on your ability to demonstrate the following:

• Demonstrated ability in a range of histological applications from routine tissue management through to the application of advanced methods and technologies including embedding, microtomy, routine special stains and advanced complex special stains, urgent frozen section protocols and specimen dissection.- Demonstrated elevated levels of diligence and accuracy in performing tasks within a histology laboratory.- Demonstrated ability (or ability to rapidly acquire the skill) to identify, develop and implement quality and service improvement activities in accordance with NATA/ISO accreditation / certification.- Proven willingness and ability to actively participate in and contribute to continuing education and other professional development activities.- Proven ability to work and communicate effectively within a team environment to achieve the goals of the work unit including the meeting of critical deadlines.- Availability to participate in a roster system across the operating hours of the department.

About Pathology Queensland Pathology Queensland (PQ) provides diagnostic pathology services to all Hospital and Health Services (HHS) across metro, regional and remote Queensland and plays a critical role in the government’s response to public health threats, epidemics, and civil emergencies.
PQ offers laboratory services in the disciplines of anatomical pathology, chemical pathology, haematology, immunology, microbiology, and genomics.
