Description:

We are looking, for our location Planegg near Munich, for the following person to start as soon as possible

SCIENTIST/RESEARCH-ASSOCIATE – RETINAL GENE THERAPY (M/W/X)

To strengthen our team in Planegg (fixed term 2 years, full-time employment).
In your role, you will integrate in the R&D Team to generate and characterize vectors, expanding the portfolio of AAV-based gene therapy programs at ViGeneron. You will be conducting in-vitro and in vivo experiments, as well as implementing technology and assay development for our preclinical programs. This important role calls for a strong background in molecular biology as well as cell culture and aseptic techniques, and retinal knowledge would be a big plus. Based on your in-depth scientific understanding you have the ability to develop and optimize detailed laboratory protocols. This is your opportunity to become part of a small, but rapidly growing gene therapy startup longing to bring innovation to the patients. We are a young, close-knit, integrated scientific team, using our expert-knowledge to develop innovative gene therapies. We are looking for an enthusiastic, motivated, and hands-on scientist who is capable of understanding project goals and developing solutions. If you are an ambitious team worker, also capable of working autonomously and under minimal supervision if required, and if you share our passion to overcome the limitations of existing AAV-based gene therapy, we will be excited to speak with you.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Ph. D. in molecular biology, virology, biotechnology or related field
  • Expertise in mammalian cell culture and aseptic techniques
  • In-depth knowledge and experience on design of rAAV constructs
  • Proven track record to show advanced proficiency in molecular biology and protein biochemistry techniques
  • Ability to design/develop new assay methods and rigorously analyze & interpret data
  • Able to work under minimal supervision, be team-oriented and collaborative, able to multitask and manage different projects
  • Outstanding communication skills

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Knowledge of ocular biology and/or retinal diseases
  • Prior experience with viral vectors, in particular AAV mediated gene-therapy
  • Knowledge of AAV molecular biology
  • Experience with mammalian promoter engineering is a plus

Responsibilities:

  • Design of DNA vector constructs and in vitro characterization thereof
  • Design, optimization and execution of analytical assays of varying complexity (transgene expression, transduction efficiency, protein detection, potency testing).
  • Perform in-house rAAV production and execute process development studies.
  • Collaboration with in vivo team to plan and execute key studies in-house and at selected CROs.
  • Maintain detailed record of experiments in the form of electronic lab notebook and study reports.
  • Present experimental designs, protocols, results and interpretations in group meetings.
