The University of St Andrews wishes to appoint an early career Clinical Academic in General Practice in collaboration with NHS Education for Scotland (NES).
The successful candidate will complete ST2 training in the months before taking up the GP SCREDS post. They will be appointed at the level of Specialist/Specialty Registrar and will be in the Scottish Training Programme in General Practice. The post will be based within the Division of Population and Behavioural Science of the School of Medicine in St Andrews, but the successful candidate will also be undertaking clinical training anywhere in Scotland. Clinical training is an essential component of the Lectureship in order to ensure the appointee can successfully complete his/her CCT in General Practice. Training will be offered in general practice and primary care and health services research methods. The final year of training (ST3) would be split over two years, with you working part time (50%) in clinical training in a suitable practice, and part time (50%) in academic training in the University Department, where you will undertake or contribute to a substantive piece of research.
Salary will be on the midpoint of the trainee doctor’s appropriate pay scale and GP uplift factor (currently 45%).
This banding payment is paid under a separate arrangement with the NHS for which the University acts as paymaster only.
