Description:

HOW WILL YOU CONTRIBUTE?

We are looking for a highly motivated post-doctoral researcher in charged particle optics and instrumentation development. The successful candidate will work with highly skilled scientists and engineers in the dynamic environments of the Advanced Instrumentation for Nano-Analytics (AINA) group for cutting-edge mass spectrometry instrumentation development for nano-analytics and space applications. He/she will:

  • further develop, benchmark and contribute to valorising an in-house developed charged particle optics optimization platform for various mass spectrometer development of the AINA group
  • develop advanced data processing and benchmark an in-house multi-reflection time-of-flight mass spectrometer prototype
  • acquire highly valued skills in charged particle optics simulation and design, mass spectrometry instrumentation, and scientific instrument development.
  • contribute to securing novel intellectual property originating from the project, as well as disseminate the results in international conferences and write scientific papers

EDUCATION

  • PhD in Physics, Materials Science, or related-field Engineering

EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS

  • Experience in charged particle optics simulation, instrumentation, and prototyping
  • Hands-on experience in SIMION simulation software
  • Hands-on experience in Python programming
  • Knowledge/experience with genetic algorithm for optimization
  • Self-motivated by passion for science and research
  • Ability to work in a team with team-spirit mandatory

LANGUAGE SKILLS

  • Good level of written and spoken English
