POSITION SUMMARY:

To build, manage and maintain relationships with key Europa Air & Sea stakeholders and support the day-to-day operations through excellent customer service and attention to detail.

THIS IS WHERE YOU COME IN:

We are currently looking for a Seafreight Operator to join our Europa Team in our Birmingham office. You will take responsibilities for the smooth cargo journey from collection to delivery, co-ordinating between the shipper, and the carrier. And to ensure all operational costs are accounted for and applied and that goods are efficiently collected and cleared for export.

Our Ideal Person:

  • Experience in Ocean Export & Shipping Processes: A solid understanding of ocean export logistics, including the preparation of shipping instructions and some exposure to the customs clearance process. Familiarity with the documentation, regulations, and procedures involved in ensuring smooth international shipping.
  • Strong Time Management & Communication Skills: The ability to effectively manage multiple tasks and deadlines, ensuring timely delivery of shipments and clear, professional communication with clients, partners, and team members.
  • Proactive Problem-Solving & Prioritisation: Demonstrated ability to prioritize tasks efficiently, anticipate potential issues, and take initiative to resolve them before they escalate. Able to adapt quickly to changing situations and make sound decisions under pressure.
  • Excellent Team Player: Works well within a team environment, collaborating and supporting colleagues to achieve shared goals. Contributes positively to team dynamics and helps maintain a cooperative and productive atmosphere.

    In this role, you will:

  • To efficiently and accurately operate all owned Seafreight export files.

  • To be responsible for proactive communication both internally and externally, providing updates for agents, customers, Customer Service and Business Development managers through phone and email.
  • To respond in a timely manner to challenges or concerns from stakeholders within the required turnaround time.
  • To ensure problematic tasks that are held for any reason are rectified in a timely manner.
  • Manage and arrange collection, shipping instructions and all other associated export documentation.
  • Customs clearances for all export files.
  • Ensure that excellent and consistent service levels are met at all times.
  • Check supplier invoices to ensure files are accurately costed and invoiced.
  • Investigate any matters of lost or damaged cargo and liaise with the relevant internal/external stakeholders.
  • Be aware of customer credit limits on accounts in-line with company policy.
  • Undertake any other duties as requested by their line manager, commensurate with the role.
