With a long history of providing high quality experiences for students, the Richmond School District strives to be “The Best Place to Learn and Lead.”
The Richmond School District is seeking a qualified part-time (0.8571 FTE) secondary Business Education teacher. This position currently consists of 6 blocks of Business Education. This position includes: Marketing, E-Commerce, Accounting 11/12, Computer Technology 10, and Digital Communications 11.
McMath Secondary is a dual track English and French Immersion School. The courses above are taught in English.
Applicants are expected to work in a collaborative environment and to have demonstrated such ability. Flexibility and the ability to adapt practice, strategies and/or curriculum to respond to students’ needs is essential. In addition, applicants will have demonstrated commitment to implementing all aspects of the new curriculum; including a competency and inquiry-based, big ideas approach to teaching and learning. The ADST departments participate in an annual event called the “Showcase” to share and show the students learning to the community. The successful candidate is encouraged to participate, support and assess their students as they complete their projects and presentations. In addition, all teachers at McMath are expected to teach/facilitate sessions at our Connexions Conference Days.
The students in all classes at McMath will range from those who are highly skilled in a curricular area to those who need further support in skill and competency development. A demonstrated ability to engage with students from diverse cultural and language backgrounds and with a wide variety of learning needs and styles is required. Recent work experience must reflect a commitment to collaboration, teamwork, and a willingness to work closely with other colleagues in a professional and supportive environment. At McMath, all teachers support and implement our school behaviour expectations through ‘McMath Pride’.
The successful candidate for this position must have current academic and professional preparation as well as teaching experience in these subject areas and grade levels. All candidates must be certified by the BC Ministry of Education – Teacher Regulation Branch.
Due to the volume of applications we receive, ONLY those selected for an interview will be contacted.
The Richmond School District is committed to recruiting a diverse workforce that represents the community we so proudly serve. Our ability to provide the best education for our student population relies on a rich diversity of skills, knowledge, backgrounds, and experiences. Indigenous applicants, people of colour, all genders, 2SLGTBQ+ and persons with disabilities are encouraged to apply.
Preference will be given to those applicants who identify as Indigenous (First Nations, Inuit or Metis) as part of their application
