Secondary Headteacher at Kings’ School Nad Al Sheba
Kings’ School Nad Al Sheba is seeking to appoint an experienced, passionate, driven individual to lead our established Secondary School into the next stage of its journey, as we look to open our Sixth Form College in August 2025, building on the foundations for success already established in Key Stages 3 and 4, which place our diverse cultural community at the heart of our school. Leading a diverse range of curriculum programmes designed to cater to the varied interests and aspirations of our students, the successful candidate will focus on the highest standards of teaching and learning, academic excellence and personal development as we strive to prepare our students for success in higher education and beyond.
The school has a forward-thinking and focused strategy of continuous improvement, and we seek an inspirational and established leader who can achieve the highest standards at the core of all we do, actively continuing our journey and high expectations regarding staff professionalism and accountability and ensuring enriching learning experiences for our students.
Our Secondary Headteacher will lead by example and inspire the confidence of all stakeholders through enthusiasm and commitment to the role. With a clearly aligned vision for the school, they will model outstanding leadership to secure continued improvement and further success for all.

QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE AND QUALITIES:

  • Relevant UK Degree and Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
  • Minimum 5 years of secondary teaching experience in British Curriculum Schools.
  • Minimum of 3 years in a senior leadership position. Experience of leadership within the UAE context would be beneficial.
  • Ability to use and analyse data, to improve outcomes for students.
  • Personal leadership qualities that build trusting relationships through a coaching and mentoring approach, developing and inspiring others.
  • Experience of leadership of school inspection.
  • Fully committed to the highest standards of safeguarding and pastoral support to ensure all students thrive and succeed.
  • Aspiration to lead an innovative school, aligned with our core values, supporting all aspects of the leadership team’s vision and goals.
  • Build and maintain relationships with Secondary School parents and the wider school community by establishing regular and appropriate communications, both internally and externally.
  • Commit to the retention of students and staff for sustainability and future-proofing.

Responsibilities:

  • Leading School Improvement: Leadership of the strategic objectives for the secondary school, leading action planning and securing team commitment to all school improvement initiatives.
  • Teaching and Learning: Setting the highest standards and expectations for outstanding teaching and learning, inspiring staff and students, and leading the development of teaching standards.
  • Team Development: Lead and mentor subject leaders, heads of department, year group leaders, and the wider secondary leadership team, inspiring others to drive improvements. Ensure that middle leaders and teachers are focused on improving students’ performance.
  • Promoting Positive Student Behaviour. Be responsible for the safety and well-being of all students, setting extremely high expectations for behaviour which is underpinned by transparent, rigorous and robust behaviour management systems.
  • Operational Leadership: Oversee key operational elements such as timetabling, management of health and safety, monitoring, communications, and ensuring the highest standards of quality and provision in all learning environments.
  • Strategic Leadership: Provide strategic input into the continuous improvement of Key Stages 3-5 and alignment with campus goals, supporting the principal.
  • Self-evaluation: Lead the self-evaluation process in the secondary school, responding to external evaluations of the school, managing processes diligently. Quality-assure a systematic, rigorous self-evaluation process with the explicit purpose of improving the quality of students’ experiences and their standards of attainment and achievement.
  • Commitment to Kings’ Values: Work with senior leaders across all Kings’ schools to ensure that all policies, procedures and routines are consistent, effective and efficient.
