About the role
We have a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Section Engineer to join our Rail team within our London and Southern Region Redhill as the base office. Worksite locations across London, Kent, Sussex and Wessex.
The role will comprise of leading a section of the works on our Southern Region Rail Buildings and Civils projects within the Rail Systems Team and reporting to the project Sub Agent.
Our Rail Buildings and Civils projects offer the unique opportunity to work with organisations across the rail industry in a unique and challenging environment. The Southern Region projects will deliver necessary upgrades to the London, Kent, Sussex and Wessex to help NR meet their programme objectives to deliver improved services and customer satisfaction.
What you’ll be doing
- Confident to independently read and interpret drawings to check and assist with carry out setting out (with experience of a Lecia TS-16)
- Coaches Early Careers in the use of setting out techniques and equipment
- Guides Early Careers in resolution of construction issues, drawing on experience and accepted industry best practice
- Produces and perform preliminary reviews, as appropriate, of WPP for CRE review and sign off
- Prepares and raises Temporary Works Briefs, performs TWS duties
- Ownership of whole process of production, checking and submission of Handover Documentation
- Produces a 4-week look ahead program, manage and measures onsite progress against KPI’s
- Manages onsite shift reporting, ensure accurate site diaries are produced to support commercial AFPs and EWN/CEs
- Manages onsite activities to ensures ITP/checks sheets are completed in line with Right First Time, maintains a comprehensive quality records
Who we’re looking for
- Experience of delivering Rail Civil Engineering Works within a Network Rail controlled infrastructure
- Strong work ethic with flexibility to work unsociable hours/nights
- Holds a current driving license and CSCS Card. PTS qualified and ability to confidently use a Lecia TS16
- Excellent team player, able to work competently and independently without continuous supervision
- Strong communication skills with good interpersonal and influencing skills & solution orientated approach to issue resolution
- Excellent role model for development of team members and demonstrates required behaviours to align to project and team objectives, applies organisational aims & objectives
- Capable of taking ownership of tasks and communicating outcomes with clarity; experienced at encouraging direct reports to do the same and managing a team to ensure tasks are carried out effectively and key messages cascaded and able to work on own initiative and seek out opportunities in line with level of responsibility
- Engineering Qualification (MEng, BEng, BSc or equivalent) in Civil/Structural/Geotechnical Engineering
